Crime is moving South, and it is only a matter of time before we have a serious incident in the village. Komwatch is being proactive by setting up a rapid response team. The functions of the Rapid Response team will be as follows:

• Deploy as quickly as possible.
• To secure the area and wait until SAPS / Security companies arrive.
• To effect a citizens arrest if required.
• To ensure that SAPS arrives swiftly and that they carry out their duties effectively
• To acts as witnesses and report to Komwatch so that we can follow up with SAPS in the event of an arrest.
• The RRT will only respond to incidents that pose a threat to life or property.

Komwatch Rapid Response; what you need to know:

• Komwatch will have a team of 7 vehicles that are on standby to provide back up to SAPS and the security companies
• We will respond to calls that involve serious threat to life or property
• It is important that the RRT is called out in conjunction with SAPS and the security companies, as we are BACK UP and not there to do the police’s job
• We will assist in blocking off roads and containing the situation
• We will be available to act in conjunction with other neighborhood watches in order to provide integrated cover
